I am a full-time freelance writer with a passion for the written word. I started with poetry at age 7 and received a Nissan Journalism Scholarship award on an article I wrote for our high school newspaper when I was 17. But it’s only after getting published by Blue Mountain Arts and winning an award from OnceWritten.com that I thought, “Maybe, just maybe, I could do this for a living.”
Since then, my articles have been published in both local and regional publications such as Animal Wellness, The Writer, Rabbits USA and NikkeiWest. I’m always adding new clips to my portfolio. Want to see? Check out the”Writing Samples” tab above.
I have a MA in Counseling Psychology and a BA in English. Between the two degrees, however, I’ve jumped from work as a PI (Private Investigator) to a RA (Research Assistant), then a MFT (Marriage Family Therapist) and a copywriter (for Tiny Prints and Art.com), and later features writer (for NikkeiWest).
That was until I rediscovered my first love and my true calling as a writer. Now, I see those jobs as jumping off points to what I currently do. Currently, I’m proud to be one of the Associate Editors for Psych Central (which includes blogging, social networking, editing and newsletter writing), a monthly columnist for The Writer and Beliefnet Health, not to mention all of the other creative gigs I’m working on that makes me a full-time freelance writer.
Mission
To inspire you to follow your dreams and use writing as the vehicle to get you there.
