I always post a Christmas wish list for writers every year. One year I even made a little holiday ditty.
This year with a new baby and a writing business, I don’t have much time to create a song or free marketing tips for you writers out there. But you can check out this old post for that.
This post is all about the fun things we writers secretly wish for at Christmas. Let it inspire you to find the perfect gift for the writer friend, employee or consultant on your list.
1) For old school fun: writing utensils
Why? We may be in the digital age where everything’s typed or texted, but there’s something that feels so real, so organic when writing with a pencil.
2) For convenience: Notebooks
You may know a writer and think, “She already has a ton of notebooks. Why would I get her another one?”
Because we use them like toilet paper. They are a necessity for inspirational notes, whimsical jots, ideas and quirky sketches. Having them in our bag when we finally leave the house is a must. We never know when we’ll be inspired at the grocery store, while picking up our kids or doing holiday shopping.
3) For the city writer looking for a peaceful workspace: Digital writing environment
Not all writers can find a quiet place to write. Instead of buying them a cabin in the forest, get them Ommwriter, a program that mimics the sounds of being in one.
4) For the techie who likes old school tools: iPad cover
Some writers write with their iPad, but want to feel like they’re typing on a typewriter. For them there’s this:
5) For book loving writers: Tote and gift card
This is a trick since essentially all writers are book lovers at heart. An Amazon.com gift card with this tote (since we all lug a ton of books and Kindles/iPads) are a writer’s holiday dream.
What’s on your writer holiday list?
You have a new baby?! How did I miss that? I have not been a very good follower. Sorry, Brandi. I need pictures. 🙂 I love the “old school” toys as well. I always love a good book of inspirational quotes, too.
Wishing you (and your newly extended family) a very happy holiday and blessed New Year. I ♥ Brandi. ☺
Thanks Cathy! You would miss it cause I kept it on the DL. Lol.
Anyway I wish you a Merry Christmas too and hope you get everything on your own writer wish list!
